12 roles · 4 markets
of original salary data, from SEO and paid media to content, design and video — by experience tier.
Remote work has decoupled marketing pay from geography. A skilled SEO specialist, paid-media buyer, or content lead can do the same work from Bangalore, Karachi, Manila, or Kuala Lumpur as from New York or London — but local salaries still reflect local markets, while remote USD roles pay a global rate. This report quantifies that gap across 12 marketing roles and four Asian talent markets, and contrasts it with what companies in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia pay to hire the same skills locally.
Methodology
Local salary ranges reflect mid-2026 market data for each role and country, segmented by experience (entry 0–2 yrs, mid 3–5 yrs, senior 6+ yrs). Remote-USD figures are full-time monthly rates for vetted specialists placed with Western companies through EverestX, paid in USD via international transfer. Client-side costs are all-in (base + benefits + employer taxes) plus typical agency retainers. Figures are ranges, not single points; individual pay varies by city, skill depth, and employer.

Part 2 · The Remote-USD Gap
Why remote pay beats the local ceiling — most at entry level.
The same full-time USD rate (~$1,600–$2,100/month) applies whether a specialist lives in Bangalore or Manila — so the relative uplift depends on the local market. In India, a digital marketer earns ₹3–5 LPA at entry level locally; the remote-USD equivalent is roughly ₹16–21 LPA — a 3–4× jump. Even senior local salaries (₹13–25 LPA) sit at or below the remote rate, which is why experienced marketers across these markets increasingly skip local agencies and freelance bidding for long-term remote roles. The pattern repeats in Pakistan (PKR), the Philippines (₱), and Malaysia (RM): remote USD work compresses the entry-to-senior local ladder into a single, higher global rate.
"For most marketing specialists in South and Southeast Asia, the choice is no longer agency vs freelance — it's local-currency pay vs a global USD rate for the same work. That gap, not skill, is what's redrawing the map of who companies hire."
Part 3 · Client-Side Cost (US / UK / CA / AU)
What Western companies pay to hire the same skills locally.
United States
The US has the highest marketing labor costs in the world, and hiring is expensive on every path: a full-time in-house specialist runs $55,000–$95,000+ in base salary, and once you layer on health benefits, employer payroll tax, a 401k match, and PTO the all-in cost reaches $80,000–$130,000. A US agency retainer runs $… See US hiring costs →
United Kingdom
Hiring marketing in the UK is expensive on every path: a full-time in-house specialist costs £30,000–£50,000+ plus National Insurance and pension, and a London agency retainer runs £2,000–£6,000+ a month per channel. EverestX places an equally-vetted full-time specialist from about $1,700/month ($10–12/hr) — no agency … See UK hiring costs →
Across all four Western markets, the all-in cost of an in-house marketing specialist ($80,000–$130,000+ in the US once benefits and employer taxes are included) or an agency retainer ($2,500–$12,000+/month) is 4–6× the ~$20,000/year cost of a vetted remote specialist doing the same work. That arbitrage — local Western salaries on one side, global USD-remote rates on the other — is the economic engine behind managed remote-talent hiring.
